The US Flag

Neptune in the US chart is taking a couple of significant hits over the next couple of months. Last week we addressed the international and foreign affairs side of the transiting Uranian square to Neptune occurring at the end of March. Next week we'll look at the domestic implications of that aspect. This week we'll examine the US progressed MC forming an inconjunct to Neptune on the 28th of January. (See A.W. 1/30/85). Its basic ingredients involve the executive and administrative branch (MC) and the common people, sympathy, compassion, understanding, and one's basic inner visualization abilities (Neptune). Since these two are forming a hard aspect to each other, it's not a smooth transition. The executive can show a lack of sympathy, compassion and understanding, etc. One of the ways that this aspect is now manifesting itself is in the new polls recently circulated showing the black populace's dissatisfaction with the President.
Calvin Coolidge

Calvin Coolidge

The last and only other time this aspect occurred in the U.S. chart Coolidge was President, and he reduced taxes, refused a soldier's bonus and insistently opposed the McNary-Haugen Farm Relief Bill.

   Now these aspects are in no way compelling for life's course, but they do show the basic trends and inclinations at work. Mature judgment can help to control their course, but celestial engineers are few and far between.

   Well, what about now? Although last year's passage of the Gramm/Rudman Act has paved the way for federal cutbacks, we are presently awaiting the President's budget detailing just where those cuts are going to be made. He'd prefer to trim needless social programs (eliminating some of them altogether), involving aid to cities, education, transportation, fuel assistance and other frills while leaving the military alone.

   Hey listen, I don't know what's going to happen in the future either. We can look back, compare, and make the best evaluation we can based on past experience. One thing I do know though. Whether you read celestial signposts or not, we'll find out together.

HINDSIGHT DEPARTMENT

What happened?

   No Left Turn was less specific about the events that would occur, but very specific about the date that it would occur on. The aspect around which this prediction was based was the mathematical alignment occurring between two important points in the US map, an inconjunct (150 degrees) forming between the US MC (Midheaven) and Neptune. An indication of the power of this alignment was foreshadowed by the fact that we had mentioned it a full year ahead of time in the Advocate Newspapers January 30th, 1985
, edition of Athena's Web wherein we examined the general trends we thought it might evoke. Once again history had been used as a model to understand what parallels could be drawn.

   {What was the media response to these predictions? Click here to see the New York Times, for January 29th, 1987. -ED}
