Women's Health
Standing in balance with Nature

  Many mestrual problems can be traced to Ca & Fe deficiences. These two minerals work together in our bodies; iron aids calcium absorption & calcium portects iron from phosphorus interference.

  CALCIUM

  Moontime cramps may be intensified by low calcium levels. Ca tones and elasticizes the uterine muscle. The amount of Ca in the blood drops by 10 days before bleeding; the levels are related to estrogen.

  Good Herbal & Food Sources of Ca are: Lambs Quarters, Amaranth, Red Raspberry, Red Clover, Comfrey, Sesame Seeds, Soybeans, Kukicha Tea, Goatsmilk, Watercress, Collards, Seaweed, & Kale.

  Calcium Absorption is Inhibited by: too much Phosphorus (common in American diet), improper balance of vitamins & minerals, Yeast, Coffee, Sugar, Alcohol, Aspiriin & other drups, and lack of exercise (Ca is released into blood from the bones).

  Commercial Sources of Calcium are very commonly contaminated & not readily absorable. Milk, Bonemeal, Dolomite & Oyster Shells are full of pollutants. Unabsorbed Ca in the body can cause serious damage such as arthritis & kidney stones.

  IRON

  Cramping in heavy bleeding can be related to iron deficiency. Iron carries the oxygen in our blood & Moonblood is the richest blood in our bodies.

Gailie

Gailie

  Herbal & Food Sources: Yellow Dock (#1); Alfalfa, Amaranth, Dandelion, Jerusalem Artichokes, Purslane, Sheep Sorrel, Soybeans, Sunflower Seeds.

  Iron is more effective when taken with: Vitamins B12, C, Folic acid, Calcium, Cobalt, Copper, Potassium.

  Iron Inhibitors: Antacids, Aspirin, EDTA (a food preservative), Coffee, Black Tea, Excess Vitamin E & lack of a high quality protein.

  Commercial Sources of Fe are likely to be from contaminated animal tissues, or are minimally absorbable synthetics or inorganics. Ferrous Sulphate, commonly used by Allopaths, can cause kidney damage, constipation & nausea. Only 10% of it can be used by our bodies.

  Yellow Dock: Rumex Crispus, also known as Curly Dock:
This is an excellent Herbal Iron Supplement.

Calcium

  * Can be used in infusion, decoction or tincture.
   * The organic iron is very absorbable.
   * It contains other vitamins & minerals to help the iron.
   * It's a tonic, alterative: strengthens the whole system.
   * It strengthens the body's iron absorption mechanisms.
   * It's anti-mutagenic & blood cleansing.
   * It's a very gentle laxative.

  By taking 10 drops of the tincture twice a day, from the end of one Moonblood to the beginning of the next, many women will show a marked improvement in iron-related problems, especially in excessively heavy flow.

  A standard decoction of Yellow Dock & Dandelion roots is a good mineral tonic taken approximately three to four days per week, in tablespoon doses.
