Neptune's Swing Shift

Columns Archive

The month's bipolarity

As we launch into the work week Monday, June 4th, there are a number of celestial phenomena being triggered one on top of the other, each distinctive within themselves.

First there's the Full Moon, the peak of the lunar cycle each month setting the stage. This is not just any old Full Moon though, it is also an eclipse at 14 degrees of Sag.

Secondly, on the same day as the eclipse, Neptune pivots, an action which takes place only twice each year. This is the retrograde pivot, where Neptune ceases its forward motion (as seen from the Earth), and seems to drop 'backwards' over the next few weeks against the framework of the fixed stars close by. The pivot occurs at 3 degrees of Pisces.

Thirdly, Venus and Mars square each other throughout this entire period. Somebody is not happy about what is being said.

And finally, Tuesday the 5th is a Venus transit across the face of the Sun in an inferior conjunction at 15 Gemini. This is an astronomical event that only happens four times in 243 years, but at an unusual cadence. Venus eclipses the Sun after 121 1/2 years and then does so again 8 years later; 105 years, and then another 8 years later.

        That's it!

While each of these alignments are noteworthy in themselves, it is their stacking up, one on top of the other, that gives them their power. This is a lot of juice flowing at the same time, it is a strong celestial current. It's eddies may cut deep. You won't have to spend much time figuring out where this one is coming from.

Since the main activity is in the mid-degrees of the mutable signs, these are changes that involve travel, education, contracts, health and job situations. It feels as though we've playing a game of musical chairs and the music is starting to slow down. . .

When we're finished, there will be something missing, something that was part of the picture, but won't be on the other side.

These are the power players over the next few days. If you have planets in your chart at around 3 (Neptune) or 15 degrees (Moon, Sun, Venus, Mars) of the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces), your world is about to get very interesting. Since Gemini is part of the mix, it's always advisable to be careful while driving.

Different phases of the eclipse

All this power (the square from Mars) can accomplish volumes of effort, but you need to be careful you don't burn yourself, or others, out. This can be a time when you turn a corner or move a significant project forward. Steady and methodical are good key words to shoot for. What you're working on is not a 50-yard dash, it is more like a mile or a marathon. Pace yourself and avoid subjective discussions where possible.

The knee-jerk reaction is to move faster, do more, pick up the pace; but the wisdom is to override some of these urges, be careful, take it easy, slow down, and do not do what your mind (or others) is (are) screaming at you to do.

If you're going to hit a wall, slower is better.
