Pluto's Pivot

Twice a year Pluto pivots, either finishing its direct motion and moving backward, or finishing its retrograde motion and moving forward again. On April 6th, 2010, at 10:35 PM Pluto will turn and begin its retrograde motion.

Pluto

Pluto receiving homage

Pluto pivots are very powerful, but they trigger events depending on the other celestial activity in the chart. This pivot occurs at 5 degrees and 25 minutes of Capricorn. If you have anything in your chart at this number of degrees, Pluto is making some aspect to it. Anything at 5 degrees of Capricorn would be a conjunction, at 5 degrees of Cancer would be an opposition, 5 Taurus or Virgo, a trine, Gemini or Leo would be an inconjunct, etc. If you have any planets at these degrees (we all have these degrees in our chart, but they are activated by having a planet on top of the degree), it is currently being by transiting Pluto. Having identified the planet being triggered, what kind of pattern is it involved in natally? If, say, your Sun was 5 degrees of Leo, Pluto is inconjuncting your natal Sun. If you have supporting, smooth aspects to your Sun, you will fare better than someone who has Jupiter squaring their natal Sun, say at 7 degrees of Scorpio. None of the planets stand alone. They all act as part of a larger pattern, and right now this is the pattern we are seeing being triggered.

The good news is that generically speaking, this Pluto pivot has both Mercury and Venus trining it (from Taurus) as the pivot happens. When planets slow down to 'take a station' (pivot), they hang on that degrees for longer than 'usual'.

Pluto and $

Pluto represents finances

Late Sunday evening Venus trines Pluto and early Tuesday (the same day Pluto pivots) morning Mercury trines Pluto. This helps to facilitate communication and appreciation. The generic theme here is that the focus, concentration, and passion of Pluto will be enhanced and creatively evoked. Once again, Pluto pivots are powerful, but the two trines give us about as good a shot at molding them successfully as any. As mentioned in the Daily Planets, financial situations can break in our favor as we find a sale, contract or lucrative avenue where we can ply our wares. We could hear interesting news or be strongly attracted to someone. Social skills are laced with feeling. Conclusions and terminations can actually work to our benefit.

The one fly in the ointment is that shortly after midnight Sunday evening, Mercury will square Mars, which means that we can be a little communicatively pushy, insisting on our own ideas, perspectives and paths. We feel urgently that our way is not only right, but is also the only path worth pursuing. People are competitive, which can help hone our abilities to do things faster, but makes people a little testy at the same time.

Pluto is a potent pup. He can bite in three different places at the same time. It's worth taking a look to see if you're about to be swept up in his turn. Focusing on issues that need to be renovated, fixed, repaired or replaced are excellent uses of Pluto's energy, but know that there is generally a cost that goes along with it. We trade in one set of resources for another, our money for some other set of values (barter, sell, buy, swap, invest, etc.), but know that these are the generic conditions.

What they do to you is dependent upon your own chart.
