  We have a situation.

  A celestial situation.

Summer Solstice, 2006

(Note that the Summer Solstice occurs in the SIGN Cancer, but the CONSTELLATION Gemini.)

On June 21st, 2006 at 8:25 AM EDT, the Sun will ingress into Cancer, marking the start of summer. Ancient texts tell that this is an auspicious moment, one for whom pronounced judgement affected all in the land. The advent of each of the seasons marks a new beginning in life.

Summer Solstice, Astrology Style

Under the old standing stones, it was the equinoxes and solstices, the quarter points of the year, which were mostly closely watched, with the quarter dates (Imbroc, May Day, Lammas, and Halloween or February 1, May 1, August 1 and November 1) falling not far behind. On a lesser scale, the same was done for the New, First Quarter, Full and Third Quarter Moons. New beginnings herald a new future.

Like the birth of a new infant, the birth of the season heralds the future for this season. What the stars have to say at the moment of the entry is what the priests of old sought to know.

Legend has it that in 312 A.D. during the reign of Constantine, he had a vision of a cross in the sky and adopted Christianity. On a cross set up to commemorate this event reads an inscription in German which states, "In this sign you will conquer." Astrologers, too, sometimes describe crosses in the sky. At the summer solstice this year we will witness a near perfect Grand Fixed Cross, with all four points of the cross within a single degree of arc.

At the moment the Sun slides into summer, the Moon will be in the sign of its exaltation, Taurus, at 8 degrees and six minutes. It will then square Chiron in Aquarius, oppose Jupiter in Scorpio, and then focus right to square first Saturn and then Mars in Leo for its finale. In real time all these triggers will happen by midnight.

George Bush and the Summer Solstice

George Bush and the Summer Solstice

As the WEB has stated many times before, it's not so much what happening in the sky as how tightly it's aspecting your chart. If you happen to have sometime in the fixed signs at 9 degrees, then this alignment has your name on it.

President George W. Bush has exactly than. His Ascendant is 7 Leo and 7 minutes, his Venus is at 9 Leo and 50 minutes, and his Pluto at 10 Leo 35. At the time of the solstice, Saturn will be at 9 Leo 7 minutes, Vesta at 10 Leo 18, and Mars at 10 Leo 45. The three transiting planets are all over George Bush's natal planets, and he will be challenged, big time. When the asteroid Vesta is involved, you have people who obey the letter of the law because they don't understand the spirit of the law. They expect unswerving loyalty and devotion. Vesta, particularly when combined with Saturn and Mars, makes people very security minded.

Because of the Solstice, this alignment will have both an immediate and a long term impact on the president this season. A line is being drawn in the sand, and a collision course. Saturn has already conjuncted the president's Ascendant, and as it did, he found Congress in an uproar over the seizing of Congressional records by the FBI, had the evidence sealed for a cooling off period, and then had his attorney general, FBI director and senior officials and prosecutors threaten to quit if the information was withheld.

Talk about being caught between a rock and a hard place. Let's see what happens this summer.
