Scorpio Full Moon
If you were to look at most wall calendars, they'll tell you that May 13th is the date of the Full Moon, and they'll be right. It's exact at 2:50 AM, EDT. That means that as you wake up Saturday morning, you missed it.
The power of the planetary alignments is as they move into the aspect, right up to the time when they are exact. Friday night, the 12th of May will be when the Moon's greatest power is being felt. Many will stay up well past midnight to ride it.
This Taurus/Scorpio Full Moon is pulling on the roots of our basic securities, delving into our deepest feelings, declaring what will move forward, and what will not. It's time to sever emotional bonds. This lunation makes you choose; but you can only choose one. One path will be left behind.
The lunar lamp of luminous light commands the Full Moon night. It rises as the Sun goes down, authoring the darkness even before it's dark. Around midnight the Sun crosses under the Earth's deepest chamber, furthest from sunset or sunrise. About the same time the Moon crests, reaching her highest arc as the Earth rotates beneath her. The Full Moon reaches this peak over the east coast at about 12:45 AM, but is not Full until 2:50 AM. The crest time varies a little depending on where your live. Each of these times represents a surge of the lunar power; of emotional extremes, of reservoirs of energy and memories. Both 12:45 and 2:50 AM are times when the lunar tide is being felt most strongly.
Naturally, the Full Moon is a monthly trigger for whatever's happening in the world. We have a Full Moon every month, but other planets have moved in that time, changing the celestial background (so to speak) and events here on Earth with it.
This Full Moon is currently flushing a Grand Water Trine in the sky. Generally, Grand Water Trine's are high levels of understanding, insight, and emotional stability in times of turbulent seas. Jupiter is at 12 degrees of Scorpio, Uranus is at fourteen degrees of Pisces, and Mars is at 17 degrees of Cancer. The Moon sets off this series Friday (12th), starting at 8 AM and running 'til 5 PM. It helps us uncover resources, discover truth, or gain unsuspected insights or allies (Uranus in Pisces).
Friday evening, from 7 to 10 PM, things may get a little dark. We're feeling more critical and see the faults. On the high side, we can harness these powerful thoughts and organize many files, take care of much email correspondence, get bills paid or take that lingering load to the recycling center.
However, this is going to be the last thing that many feel like doing under this water trine. Some folks would rather spend Friday night chewing on what isn't happening, of how the system isn't working, or gnawing on the amazing incongruities currently at work. Another way to use these themes is to launch a new endeavor, restructuring the home, family or commitments. During Friday, launch into the project. Friday evening may represent some of the real dirty work. This is a Full Moon in Scorpio with Jupiter also in Scorpio. Scorpio is about renewal. If you can let it go, it will come back to you, refreshed. The hang is in learning to let go. These are the primordial roots. They're scary. If you let go, you feel like you will die.
So, do you?
