Athena's Web Weekly Column
Week of Jan 13th - Jan 19th, 2006
This was a Test
At the end of November, we set up a test for the national map we have been using.
While there are many contenders for the accurate chart of the United States (there are no known historical records which indicate precisely when the Declaration of Independence was signed), none of these other charts have the same Ascendant and MC as this one, rectified and calculated by Larry Ely as 4:47:22 PM Local Mean Time, on the 4th of July, 1776. Last week we took a look at one piece of this puzzle as the new Medicare aid bill came into effect on Sunday, January 1st, a bill currently projected to cost some $724 billion in the first ten years. In that column, we examined the administration's difficulties in getting the program up and running.
Although this was the largest change in Medicare history in 40 years, it was only one part of the "'kick' happening in the news just as the year is coming to an end" as the WEB called for last November. When there is a powerful aspect to someone's chart, it can manifest in a number of ways. What else happened over the holiday weekend?
Since Dec. 31st turned out to be a Saturday, many government offices (the Midheaven) were closed. My experience has shown that when this is the case, events can be triggered either on the Friday leading into the weekend, or on the Monday following it, when offices would again be up and running.
On Friday, Dec. 30th, indicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff was told he must either accept a plea or stand trial. He made a deal with prosecutors on the 3rd and, as the NYT reported on the 4th, there were "Tremors Across Washington as Lobbyist Turns Star Witness". Star witness, indeed.
"Even before Mr. Abramoff left the federal courthouse on Tuesday... nervous lawmakers of both parties, and even the White House, began trying to distance themselves from him."
This is the first pass of Pluto squaring the MC. The implications of this deal are far reaching, and we now only have to sit back and watch as events begin to unfold. This underscores our November prediction: 'information may come out which seriously undermines their credibility'. Personally, I suspect we have another Watergate on our hands.
Over this same weekend, the fury of heaven opened and pounded the country, left, right and center. On the west coast, flooding and storms dumped destruction on central and southern California. In the east, it was the worst last week of the year on record for severe weather, and in the middle of the country, over half a million acres and 500 homes were being consumed by flames in Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico, with whole towns being lost.
That's what I'd call a 'kick'. After decades of celestial observation, this is but one more reason why I think this is the country's correct national map.
