Born at sunrise and within two hours of the Full Moon on December 11, 1943 at 8:03 AM in the Fitzsimons Army Hospital in Colorado, Senator Kerry has a strong chart celestially.

His Ascendant is at 16 degrees of Sagittarius, while his Sun is at 18 and a half degrees of that same sign. By contrast, the Moon is at 17 degrees of Gemini, the position of the Venus 'eclipse' last June 8th. This opposition is an incredibly strong one, as the Sun was just rising in the East as the Moon was setting in the West.

With the Full Moon alignment hugging the Ascendant/Descendant axis, the Senator will always have incredibly powerful relationships with his partner, women in general, and the general public, all issues ruled by the Moon. This opposition is reinforced by Uranus, Vesta, Mars, and Saturn, which are also in Gemini. This indicates that he talks to others, listening to what they have to say, and compiles the information into a synthesis of decision. It is a wide range of diversity and discussion, a gathering of both data and subjective orientations, analyzing any situation with which he must deal. It is both an intellectual and intelligent introspection, although some see this ability to carefully weigh both sides as a tendency to 'flip flop'.

The Sun right on the Ascendant lends a personal presence which is powerful, and he will have no trouble in making decisions himself, but he also weighs carefully alternative sides of the argument before coming to that decision, genuinely taking into account what the other opinions are, and how they influence the final outcome. This attention to others was in part reflected by his concern for his wife during the height of the political campaign. When she fell sick, he personally took a couple of days off to take care of her, although he could have easily had anyone else do the same.

The Sag/Gemini axis is also highly versatile. As a fire sign, Sagittarians are often interested in sports, as they are excited and animated by the heat of fire. Gemini is a sign in which the nervous system is highly developed, and it is easy for them to coordinate new abilities physically. Senator Kerry bikes, roller blades, plays tennis, and wind surfs often and well, and these are but a few of the ways in which he continues to stay in shape.

Like President Bush, the Senator also has some communicational issues, even with all these planets in Gemini. His Mercury (the ruler of Gemini) in Capricorn squares his Neptune in Libra. This can give the appearance of making him communicatively reserved, somewhat dry and distant, removed from those with whom he is speaking. He can have a hard time connecting, of seeming warm and personable. He tends to err on the side of caution, picking the more conservative path, although time and experience (Capricorn) can begin to modify this position. The longer he focuses, the more conditions begin to improve, through hard work and the application of effort. Since the beginning of the campaign, this issue of connecting with the public has improved, as he has worked on his delivery to better speak to the hearts and minds of voters.

With Jupiter and Venus on the Senator's MC at the time of the election, the Senator will indeed have a strong finish, and will indeed fare better than many people currently realize.
