This week we take a look at a very simple alignment. The Sun signs of both George Bush and the US of A are the same degree of the zodiac; 13 degrees Cancer. There's about a half degree difference between the two. The US Sun is 13 degrees of Cancer and 18 minutes, while George Bush's Sun is 13 degrees and 46 minutes. Naturally, this has been the case throughout the President's entire term of office, but there are several alignments which will be taking place this upcoming year which will trigger these positions, and we should begin to look at them in some detail.

Since the US and George Bush's Sun signs are the same degree, it would indicate that they were both born about the same time of the year. In fact, many might jump to the conclusion that they were born on the same day, but because our relationship to time is not a perfect one, and because we have to stick in an extra day every four years, the 'slippage' causes dates to vary a little. In this case, while the US was born on the 4th of July, George W. Bush was actually born on the 6th. In the sky, however, the Sun was within about a half degree of being in exactly the same position.

The alignments which we will be focusing on are the Saturn conjunction and parallel to the Sun, and Neptune's inconjunct to it. We will confine ourselves to the US position, but for each the exact timings will be played out through 2004.

Saturn comes to within 4 minutes (that's minutes, not degrees) of conjuncting the US Sun when it pivots on October 25, 2003. These two planets rule over three areas of the chart; the 9th house (ruled by the Sun), the 2nd house (which Saturn rules), and the 8th, where the conjunction is actually taking place. There's going to be a series of successive waves of these themes throughout the end of this year and into 2004. October 25th will be when the theme first 'lands'.

The 9th house rules foreign relations and opinions. With Saturn constricting the Sun, our popularity is at a low in international opinion. This theme is repeated as Saturn parallels the Sun next March 20 and April 14, is reactivated again as Saturn conjuncts the Sun on June 10, and then impacts our trade deficit (and relations) on June 22nd as transiting Saturn squares our natal Saturn. These dates will be when the economy (and president's popularity) will be at a nadir. The cold, hard winds of adverse opinion are beginning to blow.

Neptune inconjuncting the US Sun deals more with the president's popularity at home, amongst the citizen's of this country, whereas the former alignments were looking more at international opinion. Neptune is transiting through the 2nd house, again indicating our current dismal fiscal picture, but it rules the 4th, the position which concerns itself with home, family, and country. Leading into February 13, September 1 and December 13, 2004, domestic and fiscal policy will not be appreciated by the multitudes. It will seem as though Bush has not been focused on domestic agendas. Disillusionment will set in with the leadership, always a solar indicator. Our resources are being drained away. A lack of stimulus and even a lack of direction are coming from the chief executive, and folks are increasingly beginning to wonder 'why?'.

Naturally, the interpretations of these energies are not limited to the dates upon which they are exact, but build into these times. We are already under the influence of this series of alignments, but they will 'culminate' as we head into next year, together with individual dramas reflecting this larger notion on each of these dates. We have only been looking at the country's exact alignments (which has yielded a full series of dates), and the President's reactions to these same issues will be roughly a little later than those occuring for the US.
